The IAAF have decided to cancel the Helsinki Grand Prix in 2007. The annual Athens Super Grand Prix has also seen its status lowered to Grand Prix after poor attendance in 2006.

The announcements were made at the IAAF council on Tuesday, which also heard that three other one-day meetings – Carson (USA), New York (USA), Rethymno (GRE) – have asked to join the World Athletics Tour.
Edinburgh has also been chosen to host the World Cross Country Championships on March 30th 2008 while the World Youth Championships in 2009 will be held in Bressanone, Italy, bewteen the 8th and 12th of July.
